The second-hand marketplace Members Voice Displeasure Over Sizing Updates
Vinted users have been reacting angrily after an update resulted in products showing incorrect sizing.
The popular resale platform has altered its sizing categories for women's and children's garments but did not contact all shoppers about the modification.
Online Platforms Backlash
Numerous buyers and vendors are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing because of the remapping.
The company said the updated approach better aligns with other platforms.
They have suggested members to check their listings and manually change the size where appropriate, which has left users frustrated.
Measurement Approach Changes
Earlier, the sizing featured a single numeric size and a letter, such as S/8 or M/10.
The updated approach includes a letter and a range like S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the sizing has been recategorised - for example a size L was formerly size 12 but now shows as UK 16-18.
User Stories
A fashion influencer, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Few clothing companies classify XL as 20-22," the way the service now categorizes.
Another user, from Glasgow, said garments she listed with size 14 tags were displaying on the service as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they will likely be quite upset," she said.
Necessary Adjustments
A different user, located in England, said she had been left angered because the modification necessitated personal updates the measurements for "each individual item".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount after experiencing income reduction," she explained.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million users, including 18 million in the UK.
It has emerged as a preferred choice versus similar marketplaces including eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update to the app has proved unpopular: earlier, Vinted reversed a change concerning shipment methods following member complaints.
