From the very beginning of Campaign 4, new Dungeon Master Brennan Lee Mulligan has maintained audience suspense with extensive world-building, a wide array of heroes, and a thrilling plot showcasing divine entities, demons, and malevolent powers increasing in strength within the city.
Warning: Key plot points for Episode 3 of this adventure are included.
The Soldiers Table Introduced
The latest chapter ended with a huge suspense moment and revealed the premier party of heroes who will split off from the main group to embark on their independent quest, apart from the remaining groups.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (brought to life by the voice actor), the agile character (Laura Bailey), Tyranny (the cast member), Wicander Halovar (the player), and Kattigan Vale (Robbie Daymond).
Dividing the Cast
With 13 cast members, it was evident from the beginning that having everyone at one table would be unfeasible.
That’s why, the initial installments of this story serve as an Overture, intertwining the individual narratives before dividing into three separate parties: Warriors, Planners, and Explorers.
What Defines the Combat Party
According to the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who prefer a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where non-violent answers are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest the cleric might seem mismatched, but the events of the third episode make it clear why these specific adventurers are ideally matched for the Soldiers table.
Motivations for Departure
For one thing, the party has a clear idea where to proceed after a violent first encounter with the enemy group.
An old friend of the deceased character—whose passing started the campaign’s events—used the enemy for his own means, invading Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting Thimble, and taking all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then paid off his obligations and fled to a secure base in the remote area, beyond the city, with Cyd Pridesire close behind.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each adventurer has a personal reason to exit the metropolitan area:
- The rogue, as the companion and trusted friend, desires retribution.
- Kattigan knows the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous place.
- The warrior and The healer, having defied his relatives’ demands to eliminate Teor and instead freed him, have no other options.
- However, their position as important members in the powerful family could enable the party access areas they typically wouldn’t be able to.
- Moreover, The fighter vowed a unbreakable promise to The savior for his rescue and will now accompany him everywhere.
Pursued by Authorities
Finally, all of them are hunted by the powers that rule the city for a variety of reasons, making staying in the city too risky:
- The rogue and The hero are recognized lawbreakers.
- The warrior and Wicander betrayed the influential house and the horde of evil beings they are allied with.
- Teor is marked for death by House Halovar.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the remote area in pursuit of the traitor.
Future Episodes
According to the recent installment’s Cooldown, we discover that the combat party will be absent in the upcoming installment, leaving the remaining eight cast members to assemble the Explorers and Planners parties.
Audiences can look forward to discovering which adventurers will be assigned to which table in the story’s concluding setup installment, streaming live on the upcoming Thursday.
